The Fishnet Trend

by Linoya

I don't know about you, but I've seen this trend everywhere lately on social media. I have yet to see it IRL, but I'm sure that I'll see it sooner or later. It's the kind of trend that I would only report about, and not really wear... It's not that I have something against it, I think it's kinda cool but I guess it's just not my style. Maybe I would upload a picture to Instagram wearing it but I would take it off right after, and not really wear it on the streets.

Call me old-fashioned but I consider it as kinda cheap (check out what else I think is cheap here). Don't get me wrong, I love the way Alexa Chung wore it (scroll down) but to wear it under shorts, ehh, I don't know... I honestly think people might be wearing it just to take a good Instagram photo! If you like this style, then go ahead and wear it! I think it looks super cool, but like I said, not really my style.

How to Style it

The most practical way I think I would enjoy wearing the fishnets is under a pair of heels, as socks. I think it adds a little edge and spices up with classic stilettos (a pair of Louboutins, of course). Also, I would wear it with a graphic tee (Calvin Klein for example) that shows the tiniest bit of your belly, maybe exposes a little more when you lift up your arms. Wear it with some classic Levi's and a leather jacket and you'll be good to go. Oh, don't forget your Stan Smiths of course. Scroll down for some more styling inspirations!

The Leopard Coat

by Linoya

If there is one trend that is huge this winter, it has to be the leopard coat. I see this everywhere. Fast fashion stores love this trend, and if Kendall is wearing it, everyone is wearing it. I used to see leopard prints and have negative connotations with it, but now I see it as a cool rock star groupie kinda chic. I would style it exactly as the picture below, it's exactly my style! Imagine walking with an outfit like that down SoHo, taking shots for your Instagram, you can never go wrong. It's a winner.

This Trend Will Keep Your Feel Warm this Winter (Sorta)

by Linoya

Call this part 2.0 of the recent statement accessory that will make you stand out article. Because this trend is a must-have this winter, especially for the weekends... Gucci is one of the first brands to set the fur shoe as a trend (yet again) while introducing their fur loafers, that are so loved by every single fashion girl on the planet. I guess I kind of had mixed feeling about it at first, but I've grown to like them! I just need to find the perfect pair to make the cut to my wardrobe. Did anyone say Gucci?

How to Style it

Furry shoes call for denim, heck, they shout denim. Probably a good duster too, preferably pink. And an over-sized white linen button-down stole-this-from-my-tall-boyfriend style. That is only one way to style it, but there are so many more ways. With the Gucci iconic loafers I would wear a black hemmed denim with a black top and a leather jacket. I think the all-black-everything look good. I personally like this upcoming trend, do you?

Real Life Barbie Trend

by Linoya

It seems like anything shiny is popular this season. What was once upon a time a loved fabric of the workers of the night has turned out to be one of the most popular fashion trends of Winter 2016-17, worn by the greatest street styles and celebrities. Yes, ladies, you heard it... The vinyl trend is here and it's here to conquer every fashion girl's closet. Just do me a favor... don't go shopping with your mom when you shop for your first vinyl pants, she might get the wrong idea... I happen to think that it'll make you stand out, in the good way, and that its a great statement fabric that will make you look like a real-time barbie.

How to style it

I would style my vinyl pants with a turtleneck sweater and some kickass heeled booties. If you want to totally go for it, add a leather jacket, but if you want to tone it down (which is probably the better option, depends on the occasion) then wear it with a classic trench (preferably black). Don't forger those statement earrings that are oh-so-popular right now, and not to mention the statement bag. If I had to style this look while raiding the Vogue closet then I would have to pick a classic Givenchy Antigona bag, and a black leather studded belt that would only peek from underneath the sweater. The Top Every Fashion Girl is Obsessed With

by Linoya

If there's one trend I keep obsessing over, it's the massive/bell/draped/statement sleeve. I think that this kind of top upgrades any jeans instantly, and makes you the chicest girl in your current zip code. The massive sleeve top yells "FASHIONISTA" from a 50 block-radius. Are you starting to realize how much I love it? The styling possibilities are endless, and the best part is that you can easily transition it from day to night, and that it's the best kind of top to own (because then you could just throw on some jeans and you're good to go). During the day time I would definetly style it with a pair of jeans, or pants, some massive sunglasses, a small bag, and my dreamy Balenciaga boots (that I can't wait to get my hands on) to wear it as the ultimate cool girl. Transitioning to night, I would take off my jeans, wear that beautiful skirt with my favorite 3.1 Phillip Lim over-the-knee boots. Here are my favorite picks and top styling inspirations! xoxo

The bigger the chicer.

This Winter Trend is gonna be HUGE

by Linoya

I always had a soft spot in my heart for shearling jackets. This season they fully kicked in and with them, you'll be ready to conquer those freezing winter days. I absolutely love a good statement coat that also keeps you warm. As a New Yorker, I know what it's like to have your brains freeze of and hate your outfit at the same time, because clearly you'd like to stay warm and not wear a duster jacket with a skirt and over the knees. With the shearling jackets, you don't have to give up the style, because these babies will keep you warm. If pilots in the 40's wore shearling coats to keep them warm up in the sky, it's gotta mean something!

Right about a year ago I bought my first "real" shearling jacket from Allsaints. There wasn't a day I didn't enjoy it in the winter, always feeling warm and stylish! This particular day I went with my sister and best friend to By Chloe for lunch. I chose to style it with a sweater dress, those amazing leather and suede boots, and an oversized chunky scarf. Scroll down for more street style ideas, and my favorite picks to shop of course!

The Next Huge Fashion Trend for Fall and Winter

by Linoya

You can call it a robe, or a duster, kimono or a pajama style gown... Name it how ever you'd like because you're about to see those things everywhere in the next few months! Longer cardigans, or in modern term, The Robe is an official fashion trend of Fall and Winter 2016/17. I personally approve and I already ordered a velvety one, killing two birds with one stone. I would style it simply with 501 Levi's jeans and a white top. I think the outfit needs to be super casual for daytime because the robe is doing all the job, and makes it look like you just threw something on and look incredibly chic. A black hat wouldn't hurt, add a choker to that as well. I've seen street style stars wear it often with some kind of a clutch. I guess holding something close to your body imitates the natural movement of holding a robe or a towel close to your body when you're fresh out of the shower, but bringing it to the streets. I love the new and improved kimono, how about you?

I love how we keep going back in a way. There used to be a time when women were afraid to show their bodies because not a part of a norm, and now we are willingly going back to covering ourselves head to toe, and not from religion beliefs but as a fashion statement.

All you need is a little wind to feel like a street style star.

The Statement Item that Will Make You Stand Out

by Linoya

We all know and love Fendi's furry monsters that have taken over the world and have millions of dupes (should've patent that Fendi, don't say I didn't say so ;)). The latest update in the fur department is fur bags, and my favorites, clutches. This trend is fresh and straight of the runway! So my suggestion is to you is to get your hands on one because you will start seeing them everywhere during the next few seasons! I've always liked (faux) fur. It's just such a good statement piece that makes your outfit stand out, by definition. The good thing about faux fur is that you can actually get it for cheap. You don't have to opt for designer for it to look good and spend thousands of dollars, you can always find a good place in the middle. I'm eyeing a burgundy-colored one because it matches perfectly for Fall!

The Gucci It-belt

by Linoya

Oh Gucci... If I could name one brand that is probably the most popular these days it would have to be Gucci. Whether it is their signature to-die-for Dionysus bag or the classic loafers... Gucci has done it again with their double G leather belt. Seen on every fashion influencer, the belt has now made it to my top most wanted designer items. Let's just say, that me being me, there are about 3 dozen things I want at once. What can I say, I like pretty things.

The belt itself is really quite simple, but I guess it's the glorious Gucci vibes that make it so special. It easily ramps up any casual outfit and puts a statement on it. Wear it with denim shorts and a tee shirt and you're good to go. Here are some of my favorite styling inspirations with the belt, hope you enjoy!

The Over-sized Denim Jacket

by Linoya

Gucci's trend is being fully embraced in all shapes and forms: the embroidered/patched oversized denim jacket is officially the hottest trend for Fall. I don't know about you, but I have my vintage over-sized light wash denim jacket in my closet already, and I can't get enough of it. I can't wait to style it with my haven't-yet-worn 3.1 Phillip Lim over the knees and a shirt dress that I ordered online (not forgetting about that choker of course).

So where did the over-sized denim jackets come from? Well, they were here long before Gucci called dibs on one of the Fall/Winter's hottest trends. Denim actually was firstly made by Levi Strauss in 1873. It was initially made for workers, mostly factory workers, but a few decades after denim became a major style statement a-la Rebel Without a Cause James Dean style statement. So before going into too much details, here is a little picture perfect filled with inspiration of one of my favorite Fall trends, and of course where you can get your hands on one of these babies. 100% Linoya approved ;)

Fall It Shoe: Velvet

by Linoya

Ever seen something so perfect you just wanna keep on staring? Well, this is how I feel about velvet shoes. I'm not velvet crazed, but when it comes to velvet shoes and even over-the-knees there is this irresistible urge to shop for every single pair. I would love styling my first pair of velvet boots with a classic pair of jeans, a button down, and undone hair. I guess I'm still inspired from the cool-girl styling ideas from the previous trend report! There are a lot of more styling inspirations in the photos below, just keep on scrolling!

As girly and princess-y that I am most of the time, I just love to sometimes let loose and put on my cool-girl uniform. I take a bit of a different turn on it than the latest Summer and coming-into-Fall trend. When I let loose and connect to my cool-girl, I tend to stay away from the satin fabrics and stick to my good old Adidas. I'm a huge fan of Adidas Originals, and I have this one summer outfit was all I wanted to wear every single day!

After taking my turn on it, I would like to share with you the trendy cool-girl kinda look that has been extremely popular all over Fashion Weeks, worn among celebrities, street style and what not! I have to admit, I do love the whole satin-messy hair-bomber jacket kinda look. There is something very sleek and sophisticated about it.

Here are the best 3 styling ideas to achieve the perfect cool-girl trendy look: the leather, the denim, and the bomber. Shop till you drop because these outfits are complete head-turners center-of-attention kinda looks <3.

NYFW Recap

by Linoya

New York Fashion Week came to an end, and as I followed all of my favorite designers I recognized a pattern of the most stand-out trends that are going to be with us in the next Spring/Summer seasons. The featured designers are so beyond inspiring, and they are the real trend-setters of the fashion industry. So without further ado, here are the most featured trends of NYFW of S/S 2017!

Satin Fabrics

Silk and satin came in all forms and colors this season. Whether the luxurious fabric was paired with chunky knits or with lace, it always looked good no matter what!

Lace-up is Here to Stay

We are all big fans of the beyond amazing invention that is called lace-up. I personally love lace-up pieces because they upgrade your entire look and make the most casual outfit stand out! This season designers made a stamp that it is going to be with us for much longer, luckily for us!

Asymmetrical pieces

One thing I spotted both in street style and on the runway is asymmetrical pieces. We are at a stage of experimenting in fashion--we want to break the conventional rules and always stand out, so what's a better way to do it than wearing a stunning asymmetrical top or skirt?!

Pleated, Pleated, Pleated

Let me tell you something, pleated was seen ALL OVER NYFW this season. Every single designer, no exceptions, incorporated a pleated something in their collection! I am personally a big fan of pleated and flowy items, they create such a good contrast and upgrade any outfit!

Flowy Fabrics

This is probably one of my favorite trends that I've seen on the runway this season. Flowy fabrics and silhouettes are everything if you're asking me, I just can't get enough of it! Flowy pants, flowy skirts, dresses, shirts, you can find then all in my closet! I especially love that the whole bell-sleeve trend is really making a statement this season and the unconventional longer sleeves. Let me stand out! Love it!

Metallic

If there's anything I'm obsessed with it's silver, gold, rose gold, GLITTER, and anything in between. I couldn't be happier about the fact that metallic fabrics are actually becoming a thing. Some may say alien, I say chic.

Lace

Lace, oh, lace... What else is new??? Lace was on the runway non-stop this season, and with good reason. Women who embrace themselves to the fullest should not be afraid to show a bit more skin, and I think lace is super sexy and flattering! Love it!

See-through and Tulle

Ballerina-style tulle is literally a street style trend now. Speaking of flowy, there is nothing that catches the wind better than a thin layer of tulle! Speaking of sexy, by the way! See-throughs are gorgeous when worn subtly. I loved seeing all the unique designs on the runways, and you can easily find them in all fast-fashion stores by now!

Velvet

Last and not least, and probably one of the biggest stars of fashion week. Velvet is apparently one of the favorite fabrics of the season! I like it, but I just like it if you know what I mean... I'm not too crazy for it. I remember last year I went to Zara and found these awesome velvet ankle boots. About one month later, they were still there... Extremely rare case in fast fashion! If those same boots were there today, they would be fought over by some fashionista girls who want to have the latest trend, and they want it first! What I'm trying to say is, you wouldn't find me in a velvet dress, but you sure will find me in leather boots! I'm already eyeing Stuart Weizeman's velvet over the knee boots which are to die for!!!

The Slip Dress

by Linoya

A recent trend we all know and love is the slip dress.

Where did it come from?

The slip dress that you know and love may have popped back "from the 90's" quite recently, but truth be told, the first slip dress came around in the 1920's. Before that era women only wore them as undergarments, and it was only when there was a gender equality movement and an actual change created in society. Women wore the slip dress as a protest because as always, revolutions in fashion often come from society's behavior. The slip dress was more than just a beautiful fashion trend--women literally threw their corsets to the bin as a part of a protest and fully embraced their bodies for what they were. Slip dresses had the prettiest detail and embroidery, and it was such a popular garment back then, for both day time and night! So in case you were wondering, the 1920's are named roaring for a reason ;)

How to style it?

A lot has changed in fashion in the past century. Speaking of modern times, the slip dress could be styled in endless ways! My personal favorite is with a good leather jacket and a choker, undone hair and sneakers. I am personally not the greatest fan of wearing it with a T-shirt underneath, just because in order for it to look perfect it has to be a very specific kind of T-shirt and it doesn't always looks that good, in my opinion. Kendall clearly slays it (image below), but when I see it on the streets there is just something not so attractive about a T-shirt under a classic slip dress (in my opinion). I love REFORMATION's amazing selection of slip dresses. I will definetly link them down below!

Is it here to stay?

Slip dresses and satin fabrics are definetly here to stay. There is nothing more refreshing than  wearing a beautiful and effortless slip dress, styled in your favorite way. You already know my favorite!

Stars in Her Eyes

by Linoya

You may have seen them everywhere lately, whether on the runway or street style. Stars, oh stars... Probably one of my favorite things ever! I have always loved stars, I have a thing with them, WAY before they turned into a trend. If you follow me on Instagram, then you might recall my super-star moment on my graduation day. I may have bought this skirt and top, but it's as if it was made especially for me since it is exactly my style!

We officially started seeing stars back in 2013 on the runways, and they have now made their official fast-fashion debut. I see them everywhere when I go shopping, online and in stores! It is definetly a trend that I approve, and hoping that it is here to stay.

A few brands who are fully embracing the starry perfection is Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Jenny Peckham, and so many others, those just happen to be my favorites... There are so many options from their lines, and I couldn't be happier.
